On December 7, 2011, the San Francisco Police Department raided the OccupySF encampment at Justin Herman Plaza giving those present only minutes to disperse or face arrest. Michael Goldman was one of 85 people detained and transported to the local jail at 850 Bryant.

Michael was injured while in SFPD custody. He states that a police medic took a look at him and said he needed to go to the hospital. He was then soon released without charges, apparently the only protester to be detained and released without officially being arrested. Michael believes this was done so the SFPD would avoid liability.
