Hate comes to Orange County

(ANAHEIM, CA, 3/2/11) -- The Greater Los Angeles Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-LA) today released a video of a rally organized by anti-Muslim bigots to protest a February fundraising event held by an American Muslim relief group for relief work and charity in the U.S.

A few hundred protesters showed up to the rally, which was sponsored by groups such as: "We Surround Them OC 912" (a local Tea Party group), Rabbi David Eliezrie of Chabad - Yorba Linda, North Orange County Conservative Coalition, ACT! for America, and Pamela Geller (whose group "Stop the Islamization of America" has been designated as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center).

Elected officials Congressmen Ed Royce and Gary Miller, and Villa Park Councilwoman Deborah Pauly also attended and spoke at the protest rally.

The event -- held at Yorba Linda Community Center, a facility that has been frequented by Muslim families and businesses over the years -- first became a target of anti-Muslim bigots over two of the fundraiser's speakers, who were to speak on the importance of charity in Islam. Initial attempts of some groups to have the Yorba Linda Community Center and the Yorba Linda City Council cancel the fundraising event failed, followed by the protest.

@ukpolemic Wow, that was a huge leap. This is a video about a group of Americans attacking another group of Americans. My dislike and disgust is towards bigots and hypocrites. My comment was more of a "what would happen if those fools got their own way" than any attack against their nation. I'll admit that I dislike many things about the U.S. but my comments were about where the country is going.

@LeeMarcelle The only point that really matters here is the unspoken one, the words between the lines: you don't like the USA (at least present-form) and you are pathetically trying to disguise your disgust for the yanks and prayer for their economic demise as a silly form of concerned admonishment. It's a very lame and unproductive catharsis.

@LeeMarcelle Hollywood is America's only export? Wow...your powers of observation leave something to be desired mate. Ever hear of microsoft? Apple? Google (and all of the sites they own, like YOUTUBE), Intel, ASUS, HP, DELL, Boeing, Caterpillar Inc. And that's not even a drop in the bucket. Google "top USA exports", follow first link. US exports 1.3 tril annually in non-hollywood products.

@ukpolemic You completely missed the point I was making about America being overtaken. The same way Hasbro toys are built in China but the majority of the profits go into American pockets, German and Japanese companies keep most of the money they make. If the majority of goods and services sold worldwide are Japanese and German, Germans and Japanese are making more money than Americans. As American companies fail and sellout the gap between the U.S. and other nations closes.

@LeeMarcelle I doubt it will either, as most of the products distributed by Japan to the USA are manufactured in the USA (saves millions on shipping). This is particularly true of automobiles. A boon in any of those works in the favour not only of the country they have a presence in, but those invested in them. Just as Coca-Cola for example is no longer strictly American, Sony and Honda are not strictly Japanese. Stop thinking in nation-state terms, It's called a "global economy" for a reason.

@ukpolemic For every dollar spent in the U.S. on products made in China a chunk of that money goes to China (in labour costs). How much money do people in China spend on U.S. goods and services? Hollywood is Americas only export. As unemployment rises in America it falls in other countries. The people in this video are affraid of change and want things to stay the same. If they get their way America WILL GET OVERTAKEN!
