  • @badname1986 Well, imagine working your ass off for 8 years, landing a spot on national TV, and being told that your song isn't what a label wants you to play. And just think: if Jay had kept the band together, would we have gotten that string of albums (Being There, Summerteeth, YHF) that makes everything else in Wilco's catalogue acceptable? Probably not.

  • Great song. The Jeff/Jay backstory is interesting, but all bands have one. Joey and Johnny Ramone touring together for 20 years and not speaking to each other for most of that is probably the worst. Playing one song on Tv with tension isn't so bad.

I hope they are all happy now and I've enjoyed UT, Son Volt and Wilco through the years.

  • Jay with the Bottle Rockets shirt!

  • "Tweedy and Farrar again engaged in a shouting match...due to Farrar's refusal to sing harmony on any of Tweedy's songs. The band made its first appearance on national television...on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. Sire had requested that the band perform "The Long Cut" on the show, which further irked Farrar since the song was written and sung by Tweedy."

People clain Tweedy is a dick. See him live, watch his performances.

    Such an amazing, talented man.

Farrar is good, but NOT Tweedy good.

  • @camusmuse Carson ran ads as well...or more correctly...the network ran ads. Not dissing either one...and I agree that demographics are based on very fuzzy math...and "currently legendary trends" is very oxy-moronic.

  • I'm glad every thing happened how it happened. You know, the "butterfly effect" and all. Been there from Uncle Tupelo on "No Alternative" doing CCR's Effigy to "The Whole Love". What a wonderful ride.

  • @dashofchutmeg the whole love is actually pretty sweet too.

  • Gigantic Wilco fan. Uncle Tupelo... not so much. Sounds good, but just not weird enough.

  • Ok, first of all...after a couple years I've been able to decide that my official favorite band of all time is the mighty Uncle Tupelo. Honesty though - this performance sorta makes me a little bit sad. The look on Jay's face pretty much verifies all the stuff I've ever read about the one sided "differences" between UT's two front men. Also seems like Jeff is aware of Jay's perspective and is trying to make the best out of it anyways. The song sounds great, the performance is just kinda sad.

  • Jeff and Jay were a good pair. They may not think so now...but this is gold.
