Little squirrel drinking from a bottle

Isn't he cute? We found this baby squirrel on the road so we brought it with us scared it would be ran over. We waited for it's mom several times but she never came back! We took care of the squirrel but it died 10 days after he was found on the road... While I was on camp!

he was very very tiny! He was newly born, he couldn't even open his eyes yet! He opened his eyes on the 3d or 4th day we had him

No I don't know why it died... That is the sad part because I want to know what we did wrong, so that the next time we know what to do... But it was fun taking care of him!
