Class 47 47773 D1755 and Class 86 86259 depart Birmingham New Street on 01/03/08.

A Crosscountry Voyager arrived onto the adjacent platform just before this left explaining why there are lots of ordinary people passing by but it was funny when the 47 horn frightened the life out of those alighting!

  • why take a train that otherwise looks so nice and posh and stick a couple of old intercity carriages in the midst of it? it's just wrong.

also, I second the question, what train is it?

  • I guess they use whatever coaches they can get their hands on.

The 86 had a plaque saying Les Ross's Daytripper which I guess is the name of the tour but I have no idea where it went - This was just a surprise catch at New St after a trip to Leicester.

  • i was on this tour!

  • So is the 47 pulling the train because the 86 had failed has it

  • Les Ross is a radio DJ on BBC WM (local radio legend), and the loco is his. It was later named after him. He ran the trip to Liverpool Lime Street and listeners were onboard. He's running a similar trip to Manchester Piccadilly around Christmas.

  • inter-city all teh way! those posh ones look horrible with the cream and brown

  • Les Ross Daytriper (Name Of The Tour) Liverpool Lime Street Start And Finish.

    Return to Liverpool.

The 86 Was Leading The Morning Run.
