Honestly, if you're going to do a speed comparison that hits nearly 9K views on the Internet, at least do an honest one! Just redo the video with the HLT key off. If you have the same ROM version on each, they should be the same speed. And yes, the ARM CPU inside can run at 200MHz easily. These are down clocked to 75MHz to improve battery life (and cooling, I'm sure).

In fact the only difference I found is the HP49g+ needs three 1.5V AAA class batteries while the HP50g needs 4 of them.

In 2005 I bought a HP49g+. 1.5 years later evebody in the univesity start using the HP50. After five years with my friendly HP49g+ helping me in the exams I still haven't found the difference between HP49g+ and HP50. Apart of the hollow clunking noise when keybord is pressed the are exactly the same calculator.

I think it's because TI's are so easy to use, or.. that's what people think because they know how to use it straight out of the box. They are just more common. In my school like 80% of the people use either the TI 89 or voyage 200.. the rest are the people who haven't bought a real calculator yet. They are very very common.

Why are there no online game programming communities for the HP-49G/50G calculators when they're 10x faster than the TI-89 and Voyage 200? This is something I never understood. There are TI-83+ forums with over 50000 posts and I have yet to find a HP one. Is it because the HP calcs are too hard to use or due to poor marketting?
I mean, if you can have polygonal 3D engine with shading running at 10 fps on a regular TI-83+ at 6 MHz, imagine what you could get on a HP-50G running at over 70 MHz

Underclocked to save battery life and protection from possible overheating.

Bear in mind that you can 'overclock' the speeds on both...

hp 49g speed is better? OMG!
tell me more. How do you over clock them

No. This was the problem. The HLT on the screen there indicates a halt in the program slowing it down. This was caused by my fat fingered typing somehow, and rectified by doing a factory reset - back to full speed again
