* wish to improve their general ability in English
* are already academically admitted to the University of Pittsburgh and need some additional development of their language skills

The ELI has a variety of programs, including:

* Intensive English Program (20 hours a week; part-time study available for anyone not on a student visa)

* Multi-skill Evening Course (available for part-time students)

* Short special classes:
- English Pronunciation for Clear Communication Mini-class
- Advanced Vocabulary and Discussion Mini-class
- TOEFL Preparation Class - Daytime course
- TOEFL Preparation Class - Evening course (satisfies Au Pair requirements)

* Short summer programs:
- Professional and Academic English Program
- English as a Foreign Language Program for International Teachers
- Summer Language and Culture Program
