Great melody, can't memorize the words to save my life.

This is a wonderful rendition of this song. I am in the process of learning this with my voice instructor right now and this gave me a few good things to work on, like dynamics. I love this song.

::sigh::

sounds like an amateur next to Ninon Vallin.

Merci.

neels thank you for your reply. I saw Dame Janet in several roles and she was a fine actress who could have contemplated a career in the theatre if her life's direction hadn't been decided by the marvelous gift of her voice. I love her Faure, but even more so her singing of Berlioz. She was able to take the time to mature her art in the UK and arrived on the international stage when she was about 38 years old, fully prepared for the challenges. Phenomenal!

@Tenortalker the catty remarks and lies must have been the result of extreme jealousy. Dame Janet Baker was so in control of her beautiful instrument!!! and on stage she moved with grace.

(Bernard Gavoty)
A victim of catty comments and downright lies during her career, she maintained her warmth and dignity. She moves our hearts still with the gorgeous tone of her voice and the deep spirituality of her singing.
