should we be free to choose our children's school? should the government be in charge of what kids learn?
If we were allowed to choose schools for our kids, the government wouldn't be able to indoctrinate kids as much as they have been since the 1920s. Our current system was designed for indoctrination - to pull kids away from their families so that the goernment can influence the way kids think. Now, people are so brainwashed to believe that their kids won't be properly "socialized" if they don't get herded like cattle in a school building. But, where in life will you ever be in a place with hundreds or thousands of people who are your age? who are forced to be there? NEVER: the workplace is usually much much smaller with young and old people. The truth is, if you spend time with your extended family and friends, you are better equipeed to deal with all kinds of people.
There are so many activited for kids in the community - sports, theatre, choirs, volunteerism...all kinds of stuff. But people are so worried about kids being academically competitive that they overlook the more important parts of growing up - learning to be GOOD PEOPPLE. You learn more without all the petty crap that goes on in school - especially the stuff that happens with teenage girls, that makes girls so insecure and nasty.

  • A Republic is a citizen government, therefore you can not have a government regulated school in a Republic. Government will never educate as to how the citizens peaceably control government, this must come from the people. Hence, there is no provision in the U.S.Constitution for federal regulation of schooling. Furthermore, the 1st Amendment guarantees there would never be unwanted federal regulation of schooling. A free and independent mind begins in a free and independent school.

  • @1CitizenEric Thanks for the well-informed clarification!

  • @Bassmarko The American Public School System has been,( Rather Successfully ) completely

converted from an Educational System, to National Gov't Indoctrination Centers. For a child entering the American Public Education Sys. TODAY, to achieve the equivilent of a 12th Gr. graduating Student of 1952 Standards, NOW must progress to the completion of third Yr. College. There is NO excuse for this. Other than to accept the simple FACT, that this is completely by design. I KNOW Why. Do YOU?

  • School choice should be implemented in all 50 states. If the Democratic party believes in a true democracy (voting). Then they should allow the people to vote at the ballot box.

This will never happen for the simple fact Democratic politicians are in bed w/the special interest group- Teachers Unions.

  • @HybridD91 I would'nt say that the Soviets were passing us in 52'.Probably more like about 65'. From 65' to 70' here in America, a NEW phenomenon was beginning. Sports became as financially important as basic academics. ( Merely another form of diversionary tactics ) From 71' - 79' became the decade of "Social-Promotion" & another 1st. Sports programs took over the financial lead from basic academics. 80' - 90' became the Era of RE-Visionist History. 85' - 95', Era of Political Correctness.

  • @ancientastronomer 1952, isn't that when Russia was beginning to outperform us in science and engineering and embarrassed us in the Space Race until we copied some elements of their educational system and out did them? But what about those Chinese, oh sorry, off topic. Damn.

  • @tingyuan 12 I know that America is a Republic, w/some democratic principles such as voting for local, county, state and federal representative and the presidency.

  • @54nomore america is a republic though...lol

  • Good stuff. In Houston, Texas you are able to attend any school in the city regardless of area.

  • Why'd you even bring race in to this conversation you are showing you typical liberal racism... The left uses minorites when it will further their cause... Yet when a minority makes them angry or does not agree with their ilk... They start blasting with the slurs and bigotted comments! LOL!

  • @hardcorenyc What the hell ae you talking about only blacks & hispanics live in poor neighborhoods? You are so stupid only the rich care about their kids education? You have a problem with a poor black person sending their kid to a better school... Yet you'd probably say nothing about an illeagal alien sucking up funds from the school district!

  • @whtpumkin Black & hispanic school get more free hand outs than any other so don't even go there!

  • NO we don't want welfare blacks that live in projects that our taxes pay their rent, food & health care also getting a free ride to our schools which whites pay very high taxes for!
