  • Hey Larry, I have a 1959 Gibson Les Paul that was handed down to me by my grandfather. This thing has been in the family for some time, but I wanted to mod it a bit and get different pickups for it. What do you recommend for playing mostly metal music. I've never been into the blues or classic rock. Should I sell it and get me a strat? or will changing the pickups make my guitar sound better? please help. I dont know much about electric guitars.

  • @xXXPrinceAlbertXXx Hi, I don't recommend modifying your original '59 because it will reduce the potential value if the pickups are removed. Does it look exactly like mine? Depending on condition etc the guitar can be worth six figures. That is a lot of other guitars and a new car.

    Hope that helps,

    Larry DiMarzio

  • im thinking of getting 'the breed' for a bridge and an evolution for the neck but im not a very in the know guy when it comes to pickups my guitar has a mahogany back, maple top and a maple neck i will be playing anything from light rock to really heavy riffing and some sweet tight solo's are these the right pickups for the job?

ive watched alot of reviews and these are my favorites

  • @TheASBObrown

An Evo neck/Breed bridge is a good combination, but it's impossible to say if it's the best one without knowing what pickups are currently in the guitar and what you don't like about them, as well as the type of amp you play. Email us at tech@dimarzio.com with this info if you'd like to follow up.

  • Tuners dont look original to me.....

  • @ThieleM Hi, The tuners are not original but were on the guitar when I bought it in the mid 70s. They kept the guitar in tune better than the originals supplied by Gibson and I added them to my 59 335.

    All the best,

    Larry DiMarzio

  • @donottawaguitar The '58 has a fatter neck and flatter frets. Other than that it is the same guitar.
