This is a screen test of Vivien Leigh for the role of Mrs DeWinter in Rebecca. I'm glad she didn't get the part. She was too strong and beautiful to be such a weak woman as Mrs DeWinter was.
Enjoy!

It was said that for all the right criteria she got picked to play the role of Scarlett in GWTW; she didn't have the correct disposition to play Rebecca--Hmm--Alfred Hitchcock might have been too critical on Vivien Leigh--Joan Fontaine did make do good with the role though; still I would have loved to see Vivien Leigh in the role.
I love Vivien Leigh--She's my favorite actress of all time. I thought had she been coached as to the mode and manner with which she were to deliver her lines--she would have had the role; I meant as an American--but, of course, Joan Fontaine really did an excellent portrayal in the movie; and anything less than she--playing the part would have been ...something else to be desired--today.
