The proposed California state budget 2008-2009 calls for cuts across most departments, including the Department of Education. The Department of Education funds state mandated Child Nutrition programs such as the School Breakfast start-up grants program, and the Meal Supplement for Pregnant and Lactating Students Program. This video encourages California voters to sign a petition to let state government know that Californians consider child nutrition programs a state priority. The petition can be found at www.SummerOfChange08.com.

  • YES. The complete name of the program is MEAL SUPPLEMENTS FOR PREGNANT AND LACTATING STUDENTS. The Dept of Ed funnels federal money to various school districts for child nutrition programs but the 2 programs listed in this video are funded by the State of California.
