I have seen it all over the world, and not every day either. The spray days are episodic, and the obvious gridding means these are not just from normal jet traffic. You can see them tic tac toeing the sky well away from any major airports. You can also see them switch the spraying on and off mid flight.

This is war.

One day last year I drove 400 km from northern to central Poland. On the north (where few people live) the sky was blue, but as I drove it was becoming more and more overcast. Not a single natural cloud, just trails from jets. For more than 300 km I observed exactly the same phenomenon that you can see watching the first minute of this film.

In the 1980's I remember many condensation trails, but they didn't make the sky overcast. Never. They were like white strokes on the perfectly blue sky.
