Breakthrough Migraine Surgery

The Governments of South Africa and Italy have committed to the joint financing of further research into breakthrough migraine surgery developed by South African specialist surgeon Dr Elliot Shevel. The breakthrough followed collaborative work on the involvement of extra-cranial arteries in migraine with Dr E.H. Spierings, Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School.

Dr Shevel's breakthrough procedure was first published in the British Journal 'Therapy' in September 2006, see attached. The procedure is described as 'minor' and is carried out in a day clinic. No long term side effects have been recorded. The results of the study showed that migraine sufferers undergoing the procedure enjoyed, on average, more than 100% improvement in their quality of life.

Italian Professor of Neuropsychiatry Carlo Cianchetti will represent the Italian Medical Community in his collaboration with Dr Shevel. Dr Shevel is due in Italy in June.

First time in the world was talk about this new migraine discovery that only extracranial arteries cause all kinds of migraine was in conclusion of my abstract. This is first and secound my conclusions : 1. There is no relation between the middle meningeal artery or basilar artery or any intracranial artery and pain of migraine. 2. The superficial temporary artery is the cause of migraine in about 95% of patients, while the occipital artery is cause in about 5% of patients.

Dr Sultaneh (migrainesurgery) claims to be the first to discover the procedure.

The procedure was first described in the 10th century by Moorish physician Al Zachrawi. Then Abrose Pare in the 1500's. After that a Canadian team performed the procedure using cryosurgery in the 70's. Dr Sultaneh sould do his homework before making wild claims.

Dr Shevel rediscovered the procure in his private practice in 1995, three years before Dr Sultaneh.

Don't do this barbaric surgery the problem is something an upper cervical specific care doctor can help. Upcspine, thespecific. This condition need not occur. Prevention is way better. The young should be checked so they can avoid future problems. Infants should be evaluated because the beginnings of a problem can begin from a traumatic birth.

Adjustment is on one side of the neck or the other.  Adjustment is painless. You may feel changes as spine is readjusting after initial adjustment.

I feel you man, my migraine condition started when I was in my 2nd year of University and I don't even know how I managed to graduate and get my degree and even maintain Dean's List status.

And my current employer won't offer me a dental and drug plan due to the economy, so I can't get my TMJ fixed (known cause of migraines) or get medication for the migraines asides from OTC.

Keep trucking though, if I could get through university, so can you. Don't let life keep you from getting what you want

I've been suffering with a chronic migraine condition for about 4 years now, and it's caused me to miss school, work, and other important events simply due to the severe pain. It really is a disability and the local neurologist in my town won't return my phonecalls (I've considered reporting him to the health bureau). This surgical procedure sounds like the real deal; where can I get it performed on me? Do most hospitals offer this procedure, or would I have to go to South Africa?
