Learn how to practice the Pilates exercise Rolling Like a Ball. Massage your spine and lungs, strengthen the belly, hips, and gluts and increase hip flexibility while decompressing the spine. Most of all prepare yourself for the advance inverted exercises. Do not practice this exercise if you have back problems especially a bulging or herniated disc.

  • Yikes, this is impossible for me to do. I get horrible red bruises all the way up my spine. Am I doing it wrong or am I just too skinny?

  • Great question! This exercise can be a struggle if you don't have the right kind of mat to cushion your spine or you are rolling unevenly on your spine. I added a video response called Pilates Rolling Like a Ball: How to Avoid Bruising. Hope this video answers your question. Let me know if you still struggle with the exercise.
