Jim Channon has been pursuing the idea for years that global armed forces could be unified to rescue the planet from a slow environmental death. Twenty-five years ago he established the First Earth Battalion in the United States Army. This imaginary unit would create a giant shift in the use of armies, navies, marines and the air forces of the planet. Together they would work to restore the biosphere and service endangered communities threatened by natural disasters.
This week Jim returned form a visit to Cuba where he furthered that idea with one of the countries where our relationships are difficult. In 1983 he went into the Soviet Union and shared the Earth Battalion Field manual with that country. In the nineties he did the same with the peoples republic of China. We now have good working relations with both the Russians and the Chinese.
Russian officers now train with Americans at various service schools. The planet is getting smaller all the time.
Jim says that recent history shows us clearly that mother nature in an angry state is a far more threatening opponent than many so-called rogue nations. The military we sometimes forget is highly organized and motivated to do service projects. They have the transportation, logistics, and communications to go anywhere and restore the infrastructure threatening to pollute water, destroy sanitation systems, and bring water back to farmlands. Weapons are actually a relatively small part of the toolset that military forces have at there disposal.
Jim recently helped Lockheed work on the global transportation and supply system for the year 2018. In that work he positioned the supply chain to also deliver portable villages for the refugee populations of the world. Again the thinking was the same. We are now more a global civilization than a group of competing nations and we should use our global resources hat are already paid for in a more unified way focusing on the longer range needs of the planet.
In his bioregional work on the big island he is encouraging people everywhere to become more directly responsible for their food, water, and power. He currently has over twenty television programs on google video explaining how we can better do that.
(just search for Jim Channon and click on videos) His designs for affordable housing and landcrafting are being aired on KITV this month on the evening news. Welcome home Jim.
why need armies? why not just adopt something that already worked-like native cultures-be humble to learn from people who for thousands years have fished- picked nuts for a lifelong healthy pleasant jobs- my commune fell apart as men competed for power or for women- or refused to honor the grandmothers status as decision makers and wisdom of herbal birth control and other healing

My brother has told me lots of times to read that bookserie. I suppose I should give it a go soon. I'm just not the greatest reader in this world, and prefer youtube, and radio shows :)
But the general impression my brother gave of those Anastasia books made perfect sense.
It is just ashame how so much normally gets lost in translation from one civilisation to another. In this case from russian into english.
