Philippe Jaroussky - il nitrito dei fieri cavalli (Scarlatti, Sedecia Re di Gerusalemme)

A 20 year old Philippe Jaroussky here singing an aria that perhaps is the highest tessitura he has sung, going over and over to exposed coloratura around A5 (in baroque pitch).
His voice lacked the depth and velvet it now has, but it already had the great agility and sweetness it characterizes his sound.

I loved the Jaroussky video you sent me some days ago, maybe because of the amazing harmonies. I don't like this as much as the previous one indeed. But even though I'm not a fan of his sound itself, this was extremely well sung.

I think the countertenor and sopranist sound are (like all finer things in life) an acquired taste.

I have seen many vids.. and women whos is amazing baritone.. But this voice is castrata...

@iraklitushishvili XDDDD Sure...everyman has the possibility to sing with his head voice but not everyone can do it with such a great technique and talent. This has nothing to do with manhood. Have you vere hear Jaroussky using his baritone? Haven't you listened women singing with their chest voice, they also sound like men.

Bellissimo! He was extraordinary even when he was so amazingly young! I can't believe that he had been studying "canto" only for two years when he recorded this!
