A subdued first half, played in depressing drizzle. Hamburg wore red, Aberdeen white with black shorts to add to the confusion. Simpson's goal, following a 60-yard Weir dash down the touchline, was slightly against the run of play. But from then on Hamburg were overwhelmed.

Because Scottish managers constantly selected Rangers and Celtic players, regardless of how good other players for other teams were. Scottish football is corrupt. Not a lot of people know that!
