Even here in Hawaii it is the deep of winter. It rained hard last night, the neighbor's phone rang loud at 3 am and woke me from a deep dream, and I struggled with restlessness for the next few hours. Result? I woke up tired, cranky and even a little disoriented. Not exacly "ready for prime time."

I thought, in a whiny tone, "I don't want to do a show today." But of course I did want to go for a walk, and even more, a swim. So I realized I could do that and still be able to share my morning beach walk with you.

It worked! I came out of the water, head cleared, heart re-opened, self found, and ready to be happy for another day.

I wish you a "found self" today. And special mahalos to my camera man for juggling mood, machines, and umbrella. You do a great job!

Music is Kaimoku: The Ukulele Experiment

Hawaiian words
hauʻoli: happy
keka: talk or chat
wahine hana keaka: actress
wahine: woman
kai wahine: gentle sea
kāne: man
kai kāne: strong sea

  • The water in the winter is in the mid to upper 70s. Not super warm, but we locals all swim in it with pleasure! If you are going to go diving you would want a light wetsuit. But especially if the day is warm, you can easily swim for 20-30 minutes without getting cold.
