"My love for you is DENTLESS"? With a letter as beautifully written as this, I believe he said his love is DEATHLESS.

@etylerwright1 A fair few can write as well today. Proper grammar, vocabulary, and beautiful prose are not necessarily things of the past. Granted, letter writing is a dying art as more and more people move toward strictly online and cellphone usage as means of communication, but there are still those out there who can craft beautiful letters that evoke emotion which could never be replicated in a digital format.

Everyone person should be encouraged to hear this and so that they may contemplate on how precious....and how fleeting life is, and how much sacrifice has gone before us so that we may all live in peace.

I have seen Ken Burns "The Civil War" in it's entirety.
It is this part, out of 10 hours worth of film, that I remember the best. Sullivan Ballou's beautifully written letter set to Jay Unger's hauntingly beautiful ballad "Ashokan Farewell"....well, let's just say it left an undisturbed impression on me after many years.

I visited Sullivan's grave today in Providence. It was humbling to be in the presence of such an amazing man. HE truly does live on, and represents everything that is right with our country
