Average TV Day: Sky Digital

First there was Freeview in the UK, and then Southern Florida. Here's an average days TV viewing on Sky Digital in the UK. Many channels have been skipped out, leaving the main ones I subscribe to.

The sound gets a little out of sync. Also, the fade between Al Jazeera and Quiz Calls is a mistake I made when editing it for YouTube.

Interesting to see some of the channels we don't get here in the U.S., but I have to ask the question, besides the UK ones, why don't we get some of those those channels(i.e. Paramount Comedy 1/2, BBC News 24) can these channels somehow be picked up in the united states say on c-band or something like that?

Unfortunately, it's not possible to receive any of the European satellites in the US, and visa-versa, as they're all below the horizon. I'm not sure why some of the channels don't have US variants, but BBC News 24 (now News Channel) has an international sister channel, BBC World, which is available at times on BBC America.

I'm an American who loves British TV. It's way better than American TV and is probably the best in the world. Much better written than American shows.

Now my friend who grew up in the UK says the opposite is true. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side.

WOW, Sky is the EXACT same as FOXTEL and Austar in Australia, same remote same graphics just different colour (Owned by same company (aussie/ US company). Do Sky get Aussie channels like Lifestyle Network, ABCNEWS24, Australia Network, FSN etc- we get UKTV and BBC News and BBC Knowledge. Looking at that Australian TV is just a more americanized version of UK tv.
