I hear you, the problem is that the ENEMY is waiting for them. The reason BUSH elected to fight the war in a place other than AFGANISTAN is because Bin Laden was counting on him rushing head long into an AFGHAN trap, the same TRAP that felled the SOVIETS in the 80s. Iraq was the best place to fight because it divided Al Qaeda and staved their SURPRISE. Obama will get our troops MURDERED, mark my words.

we're stronger than them in every way militarily. a major issue for us is a lot of the time we can't use our humvees and tanks cuz the terrain is basically really rocky mountains. so our grunts are hiking everywhere. more troops means our troops can be placed in strategic places where instead of hiking 20 to 40 miles to the nearest friendlies, they can be closer and not have to hike as far. which also allows us to monitor all the areas that insurgents are sneeking through. it makes sense.

well i sure hope not considering i'm going there real soon. i'm a marine infantryman. no doubt afghanistan is a tough place to fight, hence the russian failure, but i do believe your wrong when you say that we will all be murdered. i know about as much as you know when it comes to how afghan was at the time the US invaded iraq...which is jack, but i don't feel like we're running into some "surprise." the reason for more troops is cuz of the terrain. which the enemy faces the same problem.
