Бородин: Князь Игорь

Another excerpt from Borodin's wonderful opera "Prince Igor" - the Dance of the Polovtsian Maidens (which is often played together with the famous Polovtsian Dances), followed by Konchakovna's cavatina.

Emil Tchakarov conducts the Sofia Festival Orchestra.
Konchakovna: Alexandrina Miltcheva

  • The "DISLIKE" didn't have the balls to leave an explanation as to why he disliked it.

Borodin had a command of melody, orchestral color, and emotional drama unlike any other composer before or since, regardless of training, and these selections are among his finest!

I read that he had written as much music for "Igor" as made it into Wagner's "Ring", but died before completing it. This left completion and editing to others who didn't understand his vision. Still outstanding music, though.
