@oclandestin When these were being constructed people hated the outdated victorian housing and structures. Maybe these 60s development will come full structure? Park Hill flats in Sheffield for example.

@Stealthkeys77 I know exactly what you mean, the prime example being a the white shed's of Tesco being flung up mindlessly in the middle of town centre's everywhere now with absolutely appalling aesthetics and even worse planning for how they fit into the surroundings.

@Rydo182 .... you may laugh but its true. Town planners the world over are being "conned" into a profession which is marketed as one thing and turns out to be the exact oposite. Universities MUST come clean and teach the field of urban planning in a way that is not pressured by development consortiums in order to merely "entice" apsiring graduates to the profession when really they should teach students about he VALUE of community and the VALUE of balancing environment with development.

What an interesting clip. Thanks for sharing it. Designers/ planners so full of certainty about their visions for future urban living. It must be gutting for them to look back at how negative all these concrete 1960s developments have been. I guess the Barbican has managed to be a success, but even then, who would want a city full of Barbicans today?
This is back in the days when planning had some honor, some duty. Nowdays its just facilitating the whims of developers. I was a town planner for 10 years. I hated every single day of it. They teach you great theory but when you're out there its a load of shit. You're a punching bag for developers. Shit profession.
