Turned up at the allotment after a few days of snow to find that something had happened to the inflatable greenhouse. Plus we take a look at how the compost toilet is looking.

  • That's a bit of bad luck with the greenhouse, I hate when things like that happen. The compost toilet is a super idea. Are you going to add lime to speed things up a bit?

    Best Wishes, Brendan.

  • @baconsoda All we've been told is to add sawdust. But will pass on the lime tip to the committee! Thanks.

  • @seanjcameron Unfortunately, in my past, I've had experience with dry toilets and lime was always used. I was told it helped speed up decomposition, controlled gas emissions (from the waste) and helped keep the place a bit sweeter. A bag of lime does for ages because each user only sprinkles a little after using the toilet.

    Best Wishes, Brendan.

PS My wife just told me lime does speed up decomposition because murderers cover bodies in lime... should I be nervous?

  • brilliant toilet Sean. Like it. Thanks for sharing. We didn't protect our sprouts this year and some fox or other has helped themselves!
