I think the tenant in this case, who calls the judge "crooked," simply didn't understand what was going on. It appears that the tenant wants to get out of paying rent because the building is owned by a convicted drug trafficker. Unfortunately, that is not a defense. Just because the landlord is a drug dealer does not mean you can be a deadbeat! I think the judge erred in denying the jury demand though, but it was obviously due to the tenant's misleading and incoherent recital of the facts.
