@DominiqueGiovanni Lol I completely agree. Backtrack can leave you vulnerable with all these services running in the background and then forgetting about it later on.

You do not have to sudo on BT5 because you are already root...I mean yeah it works and all but there is no point unless you are signed in as a non root user... personally I think you should run as root because BT5 was meant to be ran that way...

@jasonkriewaldt Yes, I am aware of this. I am just used to using the commands from my Mac's terminal with nmap and such.

@ahmadsos007 Change your password and install a firewall for extra protection. If you are really concerned about your privacy, take a look at some vpns services or Tor.
