A review of Virtualdub, which has features allowing you to take still frame drawings and compile them into an .avi.

Virtualdub can be downloaded here:
http://www.virtualdub.org/

To read a step-by-step guide on how to do this, check the post I made in Software Tutorial's Blog:
http://softwaretutorial.co.uk/?p=83#

Note: I was using an older version (1.9.5), the current version is 1.9.8, but it seems to be mostly bug fixes.

  • Interpolation is like where if you make a guy start in one corner, then in the next frame in the other, he wil move by a certain timeline if you make it tween.

  • @sam123486 Ah yes thats what I thought. So to answer your question, no, this software does not have interpolation (I don't think). If it does I've never seen an option for it.

  • this works with videos too right?

  • Yes, in fact its main purpose is to work with videos. However, you can use it to make 2D animations.

Although, it probably wouldn't work with both together, you'd have to make the animation into a video and then use that video with other videos in the editor.

    Hope this answers your question.

  • the effects of the swords, can u make these effects in that program?

  • No, I used a GIMP plug-in to make those effects

  • how do u actually make the animation?

  • Do you have a voice modulator on or something?!

  • @potchimotchi

Another thing to make your video file smaller is to remove the audio: in the Menu "Audio", check "No Audio"

  • Great! perfect answer to the question in my head, thanks!

  • Can you buy a mic? Like a good one? One where I can understand you? Thanks.

  • I have a program that lets you make an animation program (LOL that's right), the problem with that is you cant make it export into a video format, you can only make it export as individual frames.

Based on how you put it, that combined with Virtualdub should yield promising results.
