The CandyShell for iPad (MSRP $49.95 in Black and Purple) is the sibling of the popular, and one of our favorites, iPhone case by the same name. The case features a rubbery interior and hard plastic exterior dubbed as a hybrid case. The biggest change in the case is the addition of a dock tab. The tap dislocates to accommodate the Apple iPad Dock while still in the case.

First impressions are it seems to deliver the goods. The package arrived a bit beat up and the actual case itself had some scratches. We have to assume this is atypical or perhaps we were sent a "factory second," but we're still obligated to review it as-is. As a $50 case we would expect it to be in new condition out of the package. Still, these hard shell cases will inevitably display some scratches and scuffs with even light usage. Getting past the cosmetic blemishes, the dock tab proves to be an innovative idea and the case generally fits well while adding a bit of heft to the overall package.

  • I think Mike has pioneered the "lay-on-the-table-design" expression. Haha.

  • @oskArtist Nah. it's one of those reviewer lingo terms.

  • I see yours is rather scratched up, has yours been through hell or is that just soft touch scratches? Basically what is the scratch resistance of this case? 1 poor 10 brilliant ?

  • @DontMoveItsBehindYou I noted that these get scratched up. This unit actually came a little banged up for some reason as I mentioned in the First Look article. See my update review of the CandyShell iPhone case a few weeks back.

  • Congrats on your 200th vid

  • @edgesuxass thx

  • @Punkdoggy800 So spend 50 bucks on this then another 15 on a screen protector. Who's the dumb fuck now, you bitch?

  • @superghost2082 it's called a screen protector dumb fuck

  • @wwwinsanelygreatmac i have the same case and it seems as it might have even come that way. but it is a nice case!

  • Would this case work with a screen protector also?

  • Im not going to pay 50 bucks for a case that doesn't even protect the screen of the thing. I like the hardshell design and this is a good review, but to me that's like half a case. What about the screen, it's the most important and fragile part of my beloved iPad.
