  • This is with the Miami Horns. It is from Boston Music Hall 3/25/1977. The only time he did this song.

  • Bruce and some of the ESB played it twice more that year with the Asbury Jukes. Sometime in May and new years if I'm right.

  • is it bruce that sings in that high pitch after the first verse ? I have had this version for many years in

my computer and I have always wondered if that is the Boss...

  • Not sure, but it could be Richie 'La Bamba' Rosenburg. He was on horns.

  • I was wishing this would come up since songs from the Music Hall gig were being posted. Thanks!

  • I couldn't not post it :)

  • The criticism of "not as good as Jackie Wilson's original" misses the point--this is not Bruce trying to pull off a Hendrix 'All Along the Watchtower"--this is just supposed to be a big, fun, shambling tribute to Motown and Wilson.

Bruce was a real synthesis of different musical personalities--i, for one, always got excited when his R & B side came out, as it does in this song

Great work by the Miami Horns, too!

  • Springsteen has always payed tribute to those musicians who have inspired him: Roy Orbison, Elvis, Otis Redding, Bob Dylan, and Mitch Ryder to name a few. This is another great example of him honoring the music that inspired him. He never sets out to make it his own-he just likes to sing these songs the way his fans sing along to him. Besides, he's the Boss-he can do as he damn well pleases!!!!! GO BRUCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a treat this was--thanks soooooooo much for posting!!!

  • Upliting. Be happy, smile. No worries. Have a nice day fellow viewers of this epic song.

  • great version... very uplifting !

  • Sure Not Jackie Wilson!! NOBODY Did It Like The One And Only Jackie Wilson !!!!!!

  • When ever i'd hear Jackie sing this song it brought tears to my eyes. Bruce did the same thing. excellent job. inspiring

  • I am Michael Jackson... I'm not dead yet people.... And I say, Bruce does this song pretty well, so boogie down and enjoy it, Jackie would have wanted it that way! (To all my fans out there.. don't worry, I'm actually living in New Zealand now because I'm a big fan of Lord of the Rings and have a new part (as a gobblin obviously) in the upcoming Hobbit movies... so look out for me, I'm the one leading the attack on the Hobbit children....) Heal the World people.

  • isnt there a new cover of this song, like kinda a clubby one?
