A KC-10 Extender from the 908th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron taking off and landing for an air refueling mission from a non-disclosed base in Southwest Asia in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility during operations for the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing. For the first three months of 2010, KC-10's and the Airmen who support and maintain them supported more than 1,000 sorties refueling more than 6,600 aircraft and off-loading more than 108 million pounds of fuel to those aircraft supporting combat operations.

  • The shaking is a non-factor. The 10 has a tendency to wiggle on touchdown because of the center gear and the sensitivity to crabbing. It's an easy plane to land safely but tough to land smooth.

  • douglas planes are tanks. this thing could probably fly another 50 years.heavy duty plane. big difference from boeing or busses.

You say this while the USAF is flying B-52's, KC-135's, B-1's, A-10's, and F-15's older than KC-10's. Still young by Military Standards.

  • @tanker013 Ok, but they are still old buckets every which way...

  • @sheldonholy

So a new airplane doesn't shake and squeek? We fly with the cockpit door latched open, that's the banging you hear...squeaks are plastic moldings rubbing together, as they do on brand new airplanes.

  • was it turbulence that made the cockpit shake

  • that's is amazing!

  • just saw one of those take off yesterday from ksux airport in sioux city IA thing was loud as heck but i loved watching it climb out from runway 31 first time i ever saw a kc-10 in iowa i mostly see the kc-135's arround here as they have 8 stationed at the airport/airbase

  • @avaitionnerd111 Well they are real old dogs. Hear the way that thing shakes and squeakes, bloody scary.
