The Lake House is a 2006 romantic drama film remake of the Korean motion picture Il Mare (2000).

It was written by David Auburn, directed by Alejandro Agresti, and stars Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock as Alex Wyler and Kate Forster, respectively an architect living in 2004 and a doctor living in 2006. The two are introduced and share correspondence across the years by leaving letters in a mailbox at the lake house they've both lived in at separate points in time. This film also reunites Reeves and Bullock for the first time since they co-starred in Speed in 1994

@shesablackleaf No, he lives and they finally meet in the end...Remember when she writes him the letter from the future telling him to not try to find her on a very specific day because she realized that the guy who dies by being hit by a bus at beginning of the movie was actually him. He was trying to meet her but fate intercepted...So in the letter she tells him to please wait for her, and although he is anxious to see her, he decides to wait those two years and meets her at the lake house =)

i was born in 1997 so that makes me 14 and i can safely say this is the best romantic drama i have EVER seen i watch it all the time its the BEST and i love sandra and keanu to bits!

i watched this movie 2x. it was awesome and more enjoyable to watch than the original. in my opinion, i found this film better than the original.

@purealba01 Oh yeah? I've never understood it that way. I look at this movie as a long distance relationship... So can u please clarify what u just explained? I know Keanu lives but how do you understand the "keanu" that dies in the beginning of the movie? Would you say it was a deja-vu? Sorry for my questions :-). Thanks

Please! Someone else confirm they understand that He didnt meet her at the resturant because A) he had been the one to "die" yes at the begining, BUT-- B) That it changes to him NOT GOING once he reads her letter at Daley Plaza asking him NOT TO MEET her for the 2 years, instead to wait til the Valentines day 2 years later to then meet at the lake house where shes waiting safely to finally meet him.
