@shockeyk Thanks for the comment. Yes, there were problems, but in essence the takeaways were intended to be that:
(a) we focus too much on the technical aspects and value code over data
(b) focusing on technical aspects like big and data obscure the real driver, which is the decisions people make
(c) explanation of some aspects of data and decision use in organizations such that we might think about the context, since many in the audience are tool/data providers and not decision makers
Nice Video Mark, always enjoy your presentations they are inspiring. Your charismatic personality combined with your knowledge of the industry makes you an awesome public speaker, please make more videos like this in the future, when is your next public speaking event?
Mark Madsen is a very inspiring and charismatic person I am glad I saw this video, I think the world would be a better place if he would have gotten more time to get his presentation :)
I'm still not quite sure what the main take-aways for this keynote are. That's not a good thing. Although, his timing might have been compromised with the slide problems.
At 13', Mark refers to Pirolli, P., & Card, S. (2005). The sensemaking process and leverage points for analyst technology as identified through cognitive task analysis.
