Charley hit Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte moving NE

Wilma hit south of Fort Myers and was moving ENE

same general area as in SW Florida, but not close to the same location

not like say Frances and Jeanne did in 2004

  • yea I know I was in N. Fort Myers when it Happened.

  • @tealmarlin Same here. I was in Sarasota as well and for the first time in my life my dad and I actually boarded up the windows. Nothing happened. It was a little windy and there were some showers but I could have walked around outside or gone to work. And it was interesting to think that just a short drive to the south and there was so much devastation in places like North Port.

  • When I lived in sarasota Me and my father went to go fill sand bags at 6am that morning, I was up all night, we had a few strong lines of storms come through, other then that the sand bags and all the work and nail biting was a waste of time. We didnt get but maybe a few sprinkles and a light warm breeze that day.

  • Wilma hit that same area the very next season.

  • Punta Gorda was oblierated. Punta Gorda got the direct hit.

  • I remember being in Tampa, they said at first it was going to go up through Tampa and up Florida so a lot of people in Tampa went toward Orlando then the Charley changed course and butt fucked them.

  • fort myers was scary that day. sooooo much wind

  • dam i remembe charlie that was one hell of a storm it destroyed my grandmothers house while we were in it a tornado tore a tree in hlaf and the street was flooded we were in kissimmee at the time i think we got hit pretty hard but not as hard a punta gorda

  • I lived in Port Charlotte where we got the direct hit. I will never forget that day. I lived on Easy street which is off US41. Our whole house was destroyed.
