A short film from the 2009 black currant harvest at Cherry Hill Farm. Visit our farm website at: http://www.vickydays.com I am sorry that the captions go too fast to read, so here they are in case you missed them:
The Cunning Plan
The Black Currant Picker of Cherry Hill Farm, Springfield, Vermont, USA
My father built this picker to harvest our four acres of currants.
The yellow branch lifter and divider feeds the bushes into the shakers, maximizing harvest.
The twin shakers agitate the bushes, removing the currants without damaging the plants.
The picker has steerable rear wheels and draw bar making reversing at the end of rows much easier.
Cleaning fans remove the leaves leaving clean fruit ready to be frozen and processed.
