I feel very strongly about the importance of spoken language in communication.

  • The world population is over 6.5 billion.

  • I def feel that langauge is very important... but I do not support the use of only one language. I think we should all strive to learn as many languages as possible because each language and its accompanying culture can present a new way of thinking, further opening minds to unknown possibilities. One global language is harmful as can be seen in the way that so many cultures who have adopted the English language have also lost some of their individual identity.

  • Why should English be the language of choice for the whole world when it's only the second most spoken language? Why don't we all learn Chinese then?

English is a poor choice for a second language. Esperanto is a good choice. It's very easy as a "second" language. It's also very fun to learn.

  • Global warmings a hoax man, it's a hoax.

  • lo and behold! another American imperialist. let's spread English all around, since those poor people around are having so much pain with their own!

Stupid Yankees! Can't learn a foreign language so they need everyone else to know their fucking English!

  • dood, English won't help you with crossmack, even the natives don't understand him.

  • I love that "why not me", I really do.

I don't think one universal language would solve all problems, even less so if it was that of one nation because that would give a sort of primacy to that nation. But learning the language of another country (China, Irak, whatever) is an important thing because if nothing else it shows that one is willing to make a huge effort to communicate with people of that country.

what should be that international language in your opinion?

  • ...culture especially America has led to this global situation. I do agree that learning an additional language is important (i myself am bilingual and hope to learn one more come university). I don't think however that there should be a language police if you will that would force global understanding upon the world via a language. I can still hate someone whether it is in German of Swahili

  • The idea are proposing is basically the world of Blade Runner (language wise). Not to mention attempts at making a universal language such as esparanto failed, and english is already the language which has been globalized. The Chinese are making massive efforts to learn English as is the rest of the world. I am not saying that english is better than any other language it is just the major language of oue age. Technology (internet, computers) is dominated by english as is the influence of western

  • I think language can be a barrier to understanding each other, yet there are much bigger problems which are hampering cooperation. I like what you are doing here with these videos and I agree and am very interested in most of what you say, but this I disagree. Politcs, money, religion, ethnicity etc. are much more potent factors. There have been so many civil wars in which both sides have spoken the same language and they still disagreed.
