Blanket training is an approach to child discipline that involves training small children to remain on a blanket. The blanket becomes an accepted marker of where they may roam. Training is accomplished by the use of a switch or by simple verbal correction and redirection. Known practitioners of the practice include the Duggars, a family with 19 children. This practice has been criticized with opponents of blanket training calling it emotionally and physically abusive. • Abuse??? Really?? Wow. What sheltered lives you must lead. teaching your children to control themselves is a huge benefit to them for the rest of their lives.

  • How is a game of sitting still for 5 minutes abusive or horrible? Come on people. Really?

  • Classic ATI training. People used to use blanket time, where children were allegedly smacked for not staying on the blanket or for crying. There were also claims of children being neglected, on the blanket for hours.

  • Wish I would have had this advice early on, now hes 5 years old and just rambucious!

  • @Wonderbooty911 : Check out "The Duggars: 20 and Counting" and "A Love that Multiplies"

  • She needs to write a parenting book.

  • This woman is a genius. Praise God for Michelle Duggar!

  • It is abuse because they use "correction" (ie hitting) if the child does not be still. They follow Micheal Peal's To Train Up a Child. They used to have links to his book on their website.

  • @FitnessMinded No kidding! So many parents I know are so afraid of their kids. they are afraid to say no to them too.

  • I love how she does all the actions for it, like she would with her children at the beginning.

  • Josie is so cute!

  • Sounds like scientology to me.
