Neil Landstrumm Bambaataa Eats His Breakfast Planet Mu 24th August 2009

Following last years acclaimed and popular Lord For £39, Neil Landstrumm returns with this psychedelic 8 track minimal album that wires together dubstep and grimes modes and fx with a penchant for 8-bit melodies, brick-a-brack percussion and a touch of raves rude energy.

The tracks on Bambaataa Eats His Breakfast are infused with a joyous abandon, like the sweet melodies of opener The Coconut Kestrel or the melted patois voices, pulverising bass and computer game melody of SK1 The Damager. Other tracks are detailed with strange cues like the weird childrens voices on Schlump Funk or the psychiatrist voice on How Do You Feel?. Two of the tracks Say n Do and Cant See Me feature the dusted vocals of MC Profisee, rapper and producer with Scottish group Cloak x Dagger.

if you listen to artists that you don't love on YouTube there is a chance you might accidentally discover something that you really like. I love Landstrumm, but everything I have bought from him came out before 2001. This new stuff isn't very good in my opinion, but I did give it a shot.

@COTDEATH I think u missed the point of 'music' in it's whole. Don't u think Rustie and ebola got their sound from somewhere else? And those people got it from somewhere else too..? U don't just make something out of nothing, especially not in music. It's experimentation, evolvement, .. Not about who did what first, because nobody was first in anything in the end..

Just my 2 cents, but u probably don't give a fuck anyway, but still, mabye some day u will see how wrong u are.

Landstrumm's early releases were a bad rip off of chicago house. His latest music is his laughable take on trendy "bass" music. He is no pioneer, he is a second rate rip-off artist who is trying to climb on the shoulders of other people (Rustie, Ebola etc) to seem like his music is relevant. LOL@ me trying to "fit in" when all I'm doing is expressing my opinion.
