Paul Gallico's "The Snow goose" story was first published in The Saturday Evening Post in 1940 and won the O. Henry award in 1941. He lived long enough to see his timeless short story come to life. Well directed and acted, this made for TV movie won a Golden Globe award and Jenny Agutter was awarded an Emmy for her performance. The movie was also Emmy nominated in 8 other categories.
Heartfelt and wonderfully done movie about a lonely man Philip Rhayadar (Richard Harris) who helps local girl Frith (Jenny Agutter) rescue a wounded goose from hunters. Enjoy.
Wonderful. I came to the book in the 70s via the record by Camel and now I am watching the film for the first time. Beautiful. Thank you so much for posting this.

I took part in the play-reading of the book in 1945. Bought the LP record in 1975. Found and bought the novel in a second hand bookshop in 2000. The book and LP have pride of place in my collection. I didn'yt know it had been made into a movie until now. What a valued treasure! Thank you, thank you Mark 042683. Thank you Youtube. Thank you BBC/Hallmark. How can I upload my Mp3 of the LP in return? Ken
