@tulud In an interview with NME, Francis commented on the meaning of the song
“ It's about winos and hobos traveling on the trains (boxcar), who die in the California Earthquake. Before earthquakes, everything gets very calm—animals stop talking and birds stop chirping and there's no wind. It's very ominous."
And wasn't the name of that plane the "Enola Gay", a Boeing B-29 Superfortress bomber?

First of all your comment is just not true. Where you heard it, not only suggests the commitment to the music (bandwagon vs longtime fan), it may also grant the long time listener a deeper understanding of the music. All music has a history, and understanding that history is essential to truly understanding the music. If you grew up around the Boston alt/indie rock scene in the 80's you would have far better appreciation than if you heard them once on youtube.

I guess 500 days of summer would be a hypothetical world where Summer is just under year and a half long. This world would disregard the meteorological solstice to equinox and instead have a constant length of day/night conversion. Though one could presumably have a 500 day summer by switching from the northern to the southern hemisphere (though they do not completely coincide).I suspect then the phrase is metaphorical as summer activities lasting

@tulud Oh ya? Well, Katy Perry's song Califronia Gurls isn't about girls at all, if you look closely you'll see they're just a bunch of sluts

@guitarr44 whats 500 days of summer?

Why do people think it's better to like a song before it may have been presented to them other then in its original format? Why does it matter what way someone comes across a song or how it becomes popular? If you appreciate the music you should appreciate that other people feel the same rather then be annoyed about how they came across the music. You don't have a more or less profound understanding/appreciation for music by the way you come across it. Stop moaning.

Thumbs up if you've never even heard of 500 days of summer

"bockscar" was the name of the plane that dropped the bomb "fat man" over in nagasaki in 1945, now read the lyrics with the perspective of a japanese person, the name of the atomic bomb is fat man, what is the title of the song?
