Like anything else, it's what you make of it. I was a jock in school and do martial arts training now. I love the Combat Mission series and other computer games. I also love miniature war gaming. If you call me a nerd for that I'll break your arm, hit you on the head with my computer, and poke you in the eyes with lead.. Seriously, computer gaming can take you deeper into tactics (unless it's a first person shooter), and miniature figures satisfy the artist in us, the kid that loves models.

This is only nerdy if you find history, math and a study of the mechanics of war just too challenging for your XBOX brain to grasp, go skateboard in front of the grocery store I will take these intelligent nerds any day over a dumbass with a low attention span and no imagination.

I do my best LoL ! However getting abuse online for "being a nerd" from people who are proud that they play computer games - and who can't spell or punctuate properly - helps keeps me from dropping off :-)
