Welcome to the other half of our "Stanley Baker Double Bill" here on itv gold 2, Peter Yates' "Robbery" from 1967 - the romantic drama, "Eva" (1962) is available on itv gold 1. Co-starring James Booth, Joanna Pettet and Frank Finlay, this is regarded as a pretty accurate dramatisation of the Great Train Robbery. While not a 'how to', it is very detail dependent, showing the care and planning that took place to pull it off. • @eastlight haha yeah :) lol

  • It is great to see London how it should be remembered - not a foreign car or multiculturalism in sight.

  • @Photonzos Mate the ambulances of the time worked on the grab and run principal. If it was hanging of the casualty, leaking or a funny shape. They bunged a bandage on it. Slung them on a stretcher with a nice red blanket to hide the blood and then drove like the clappers for the A&E. For that kind of thing you don’t need much kit. And yes lots of people died as a result of this way of doing things.

  • Etre malhônète sans aller en prison c'est si facile!

    Faites de la politique!

  • Thanks.

I thought myself well informed about British films of this era but I'd not even heard of it before.

    Clearly a long neglected gem.

  • Not much equipment or equipment locker in the back of the ambulance....

  • The Diesel loco featured in the film was EE Type 4 Class 40 diesel no D318 (later 40118). It's still in existance at the Birmingham Railway Museaum at Tyseley currently undergoing restoration. The original Great Train Robbery loco D326 (40126) was scrapped at Doncaster Works in 1984. Great film with some classic actors by the way.

  • @o2me2 yes that was a lovely film.

  • An excellent Brit.film - I hadn't even heard of it before, so thanks for uploading it. Super casting and acting give the thieves presence and credibility, and the scenes are handled expertly as well. Much prefer this one to the Italian Job..

  • @derek1969able

    It's Harbridge Avenue, Roehampton.
