A time-lapse clip of the ISS flying over South Manitou Island from Good Harbor Bay ... twice! in the Sleeping Bear Dune National Lakeshore ...
the flybys took 7 and 9 minutes to complete their passes.
It was tough to get a dark sky to see the stars/iss better as it was a near full moon ... lot's o light!

enjoy ...

  • what's up with the fire on the beach isnt that against park rules?

  • @doonoak there is a ruling posted on this beach that 'no fires beyond the signs', so you can have fires down by the water ... what amazes me is how many times I've seen folks just get up and leave their fires burning!

  • Superb! Very very inspiring. Same questions as before, what was the interval between shots? Are you just using quick time to create the movie?

  • @mbgriffi : no interval(ok, 1sec by default, because the camera has to reset before it can take another shot), I lock down the release. This clip I used iMovie. Thanks for stopping by!

  • was the last picture all the pictures put together? nice effect of the circling stars !

  • yes, the last image is a compilation of all the photos used to create the video, stacked and reduced to one image.

There were two flybys that I was able to record, because the timing of the orbits and our dark, coincide so that folks can see multiple flybys ... they orbit every 90 minutes!

see all

  • I havent been to south in a long time so dont know what im talking about great video thanks for letting us see it

  • I see that you mention you had to have the camera take a picture about every one second, Is that a setting on your camera? I would love to try something like this but I'm using a Nikon P90. Also, What size memory card and what speed did you need to do this? what was the total time-span to capture this?

    I'm Jealous! :D

  • nice photoshop. just like always.
