This video describes how to modify an ezip or izip motor to allow for more cooling. This is suggested if you are running more than 24 volts to the motor.

See my video on how to increase the speed of an ezip or izip bike.

  • What's with all the wiring stuff? Isn't the bottom line that you're just removing the outside motor cover and drilling holes in it then replacing it?

  • No. You have to use a dremal to remove a small layer off of the studs connecting to the plates. Remove to much and it will not go back on and will be loose. Don't remove any at all and the plate will snap like a twig.

The motor is impossible to put back togather without using the tape to hold the springs down. If you don't use the tape the springs will push the magnets out and you will never be able to close the motor.

Sounds simple but directions are needed and very useful.

  • To bad these motors aren't adjustable like some R/C motors. Especially if you could adjust on the fly, similar to how an older boat motor accelerates. This way, you start out with the torque you need and as you adjust the throttle, you not only get more power to the motor, but also changes the timing giving a much higher rpm. It can be done and without charging $500 to $1500 a pop.

  • this video doesn't describe shit! It's just a slideshow of pictures!

  • there is a reason why they arent made like that in the first place

  • You need holes on another side to make the air flow through. That way you'd only need few holes too. but i'd worry about crap and dust anyway. Adding cooling fins would be better way to cool it.

  • Seems like inviting more of a problem that need be, what about inclement weather? Mine works just fine in rain or snow, no shock or electrical failure.

  • ok so you got ambient air into the motor, how did you get the warm air out.

You need to drill holes on the gear caseing to creat air flow along the armature and coils

  • thanks the the tip

did u see the lincvolt car neil young the singer is trying to build?i'm betting the possibility of a 100 mpg 1959 lincoln could be done.i thank neil young for putting his money time and life into this.he needs our support as much as the world needs his right now i think.

  • This looks like a real pain in the ass and risky as far as getting the motor back together and ever running again.
