Ain't Misbehavin' is a musical revue with a book by Murray Horwitz and Richard Maltby, Jr., music by Thomas Wright "Fats" Waller, and lyrics by various writers. It is named after the song by Fats Waller, "Ain't Misbehavin'"

It serves as a tribute to the black musicians of the 1920s and '30s who were part of the Harlem Renaissance, an era of growing creativity, cultural awareness, and ethnic pride, and takes its title from the 1929 Waller song "Ain't Misbehavin'".

It was a time when Manhattan nightclubs like the Cotton Club and the Savoy Ballroom were the playgrounds of high society and Lenox Avenue dives were filled with piano players banging out the new beat known as swing.

Whitey's Lindy Hoppers were a dance troup from the Savoy Ballroom in Harlem. The fella in the overalls is Frankie Manning. He choreographed this piece.

Most versions of Ain't misbehavin' are played fast but I had my whiskers trimmed and wore a straw hat 'cos the pace of Mr Leon Redbone was the inspiration for doing this song.

  • @MrJoncando I think your dog might be deaf... either that or the sounds were so severe that Me-me has slipped into a catatonic state... if she is still asleep in the morning suspect Prof Moriarty... he has a thing about dogs

  • @weegingayin ..played the tune to 'Me-Me..the Jack Russell sofa dog..has a brain bigger then most..I'm the mug who opens the tin remeber..??..she looked at me, as to say 'piss off..' moved up the sofa & went back to sleep..wot can I say m8..??

  • @songblurred I wish I could dance like they did at the Savoy, That stuff is amazing. So full of life and joy

  • @cinderellalifestyle Found out that there was a musical called "ain't misbehavin'" and in there was a mention of the Savoy Ballroom, and that led on to Frankie Manning who danced there. While watching his tribute I caught a reference to Whitey's Lindy Hoppers and the work he did on the movie HELLZAPOPPIN' The dance sequences were so energetic and acrobatic that I just had to put the links in the discussion. I love that kind of dancing.

  • @waterdog226 I may have used my low frequency radio voice.

  • @MrJoncando In actual fact I had it produced by Luther Blissett, and the reason some bits are so hard to hear, is because he used a very high pitched dog whistle which has an audio range outside the notes that are normally heard by humans. Dogs dance themselves to exhaustion when they hear this melody. Least ways that is what Prof Moriarty told me... believe it or not.

  • @MrJoncando Thank you Mr Jon
