@jazziniful, During WWII, people's parents thought it was safer for their children in the countryside because the Germans mostly bombed major cities like London.

While I do love this movie, I feel they spent too much time adding scenes that weren't in the book, and not enough time to be authentic. The whole opening scene could have been used in conversation as it was in the book, which given good acting could have been an excellent opportunity for character development.
