Billy, AG, and Tim take on Baltimore Free Farm's first attempt at a feral honeybee hive rescue. The big wind storm on 2/25/2011 nearly blew away the new roof we had just installed on the BFF sustainability center in Baltimore's Hampden neighborhood. It also blew a branch off of a very large oak tree in a dude's yard in Roland Park, and that from that fallen branch emerged a large swarm of stunned, confused honeybees. The homeowner didn't want to destroy the bees (yay!) and made the fortuitous decision to call Baltimore Free Farm for help. The videos in this series were recorded in the process of removing and salvaging the downed hive and transporting it to our community garden (the Ash Street Garden) in Hampden. Thank you to everyone who helped, especially Meme Thomas of Baltimore Honey for teaching us how to do this without killing ourselves or the hive.
