Great film and great performances. Anybody interested in Mike Leigh's work should track down 'Meantime' if they have not already seen it...one of his best.

One of my all time favorite films. I love the performances and the compassionate approach to these characters. You can really tell that Mike Leigh accepts his tragic figures warts and all, we feel sympathy for them because in a lot of ways they are just like us. Who hasn't at one time or another desired to escape from responsibility, dodged the people who love us, and stubbornly gone it alone only to find ourselves returning to it because we deep down know it is what we really need.

I love Mike Leigh films, but I hate this one. Why waste an entire movie on a lazy, self-absorbed asshole with an incurable compulsion to show off a bunch of big, fancy words to everyone he comes across?

this was an absolutely amazing film and has certainly now made it into my top five favourites.......thank you so so so much for uploading it.....

this is one of the greatest films ever made, easily....

David Thewlis gives the performance of a lifetime in this....as i said before i've never seen such a thing...he was beyond brilliant and if he is forever remembered i hope it be for this film....i'll forever remember him in it thats for sure...

i will say though....this is his best performance....and all in all..one of the greatest performances i've ever seen in general.....
