Home made mattebox/sunshade/lens hood for canon WD-H37C 0.7 x Wide converter and HF10. To make the plywood ring, you must put one thin layer of tape to the outside of the lens. And start gluing the layers/rounds(3-4) of thin plywood stripes around it. Do not glu it on to the tape on the lens. Then take it of, and soak it with thin superglue. Now you have a solid ring of plywood. Take the tape of the lens, and it will now fit perfectly. Sand it if nessesary. Then build the other parts on to the plywood ring. You can get thin plywood from your local hobby shop. Each layer of paint is heat dryed in a oven at +60-70C. I sanded each layer of paint with 600 water sand paper, to get a smoth surface, and get the next layer to stick. You can also use polycote/solarfilm and heat shrink it at the outside of the lens hood. Later/some time im going to make a real cool mattebox for my FX1, so stay tuned.

  • Cool thing! Thanks. I like the music on the background also. What is it?

  • @MusIrable Thanks. I dont remember the music, but you find it in audio swap at youtube.

  • This is very good. I will try this

  • @banearu Thats good. Its not so difficult. And it works great. Make a video of it. Good luck.

  • Nice work. One thing though: You should have sprayed it with a non-reflective, "matte" black color ;) now you have a reflective, shiny black color that could bounce light into the lens, which isnt the intention of a mattebox/lens hood at all.

  • @Pestilence86 Yes i know. The paint is not so reflective. But yes, it could have been more matte. You can also use some kind of black fabric, and glue it on.
