The Greenville Literacy Association wanted to advertise the 2010 Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale, so to get people's attention, we did some installations on the streets of Greenville, SC. These illusions feature words that are tough to read unless you can figure out how to decipher the illusions. The illusions make a nice metaphor for the struggle many people experience when trying to read. And the eureka moments of discovery are like what GLA helps its students experience every day.
When you support GLA's Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale, you're helping 1000's of Greenville adults learn to read, write and do arithmetic. Come to the sale August 21st from 8:30 to 4:00. Early birds can pay $10 and shop at 7:30.
Special thanks to the folks at TPM in Greenville for helping with the graphics. A big thank you to Will Young, Angie Prosser, Mary Douglas Hirsch and John Castile with the City of Greenville for helping make this project happen.
